Kira Lewis Clark
Kira is passionate about addressing inequities in order to create ethical and responsive programs based on community voices through a strength based model to nurture protective factors in community settings. She believes deeply in working together to dismantle systems of oppression for disenfranchised communities by providing resources, tools and supportive systems that uplift families and allow them to flourish.
Kira earned her BA in Psychology from Mills College and then continued her education there earning a MA in Infant Mental Health (Developmental Psychology) a few years later.
Before joining TPS as the Director of People, Culture and Learning, Kira spent the past 10 years working in community based education agencies in Oakland, Ca. Previously, Kira was the Program Director at Saint Vincent’s Day Home, a state preschool in West Oakland. While there she steered the agency in a strategic direction that bridges social justice, successful operations practices and community development that enhanced the culture of the agency for the staff and families. Kira also worked as a Program Director at Lotus Bloom Family Resource Center in East Oakland to train community members and integrate family engagement goals to help staff step into stronger leadership roles by increasing their knowledge on early childhood education, equity as well as risk and protective factors.
She is a Bay Area local. She was raised in Concord but currently lives in San Leandro, Ca.
