Nerissa Broughton
Nerissa joined The Primary School after being a Special Education Preschool Teacher with San Francisco Unified School District and Newark Unified as well as an Early Interventionist at West Contra Costa Unified. Before moving back to the Bay Area she spent several years down in San Diego as a Behavioral Therapist with Bridges ABA. With many years in the Early Childhood and Special Education field, Nerissa has seen first hand the systemic inequities that exist and believes strongly in the benefits of providing supports as early as possible. She feels very passionately about social justice, early intervention and partnering with parents. She has been excited to shift her focus to even younger children and work in close partnership with health providers and families to help prepare them for preschool and beyond.
Nerissa was born in the Philippines and grew up in Palo Alto. She received her B.A. in Psychology from UC Santa Barbara and her Masters in Early Childhood Special Education from San Francisco State University.
