Mayra Tafolla
Mayra was born in Michoacán Mexico and immigrated with her family at 11 years of age. East Palo Alto is a very special place for Mayra because ever since she immigrated to the United States, East Palo Alto has been her home. Being the oldest child of immigrant parents from a very young age, Mayra was the one helping her parents navigate the systems and finding resources for her parents and siblings. This sparked her passion for helping and working with low-income families and children with special needs.
After graduating from East Palo Alto Academy High School, Mayra attended Canada College where she earned an Associate Degree in Human Services and a Child Development teaching permit as well as some other family development credentials. This has allowed her to work supporting families and young children in various non-profit organizations in San Mateo County such as El Concilio de San Mateo County, Peninsula Family Service and 4Cs of San Mateo County and now at The Primary School.
She is very excited to be part of the TPS team because now this is an opportunity for her to give back to her community and the families by doing what she enjoys the most.
